V-Shift

V-Shift is a high-intensity, fast paced battle platformer where mastering your movement is key to victory. Choose your champion, and become the best gladiator in a galaxy-wide alien arena. Master the V-Shift: velocity is damage, stillness is death.
Game Mechanics
Select your champion and battle against other players in this multiplayer platform battle arena. In a battle royale, players will fight and maneuver against each other until one victor is left.
The game uses these core mechanics:
Character Selection: Players will have up to 4 characters to choose from, each with their own unique abilities.
Movement: Players run and jump to interact with level objects that affect their movement, such as using portals, jump pads, or rails. As a player builds up momentum through movement, they are “charging” up their V-Shift action.
- Portals - Transport players from one part of the level to another instantly.
- Jump Pads - Boosts the player in the direction of the jump pad.
- Rails - Automate movement and momentum building for a player across a specific path.
- Speed boosts - Sudden increase in speed
Attacking: Players use melee attacks to both damage and knock back enemies on hit. With a set range, the power of the attack is connected to how fast the player is currently going. Therefore players are encouraged to build their speed and then attack for maximum damage.
V-Shift: Through constant movement, players are charging their V-Shift, an ability to redirect their momentum into any given direction. This mechanic allows players to make quick movements, inflict massive damage on their enemies, or even increase their hit range.
Special abilities: Unique to each character, a special ability can be used to provide an advantage for the player wielding it. Special abilities such as rewinding the player’s movement can help introduce variety and complexity to the game.
- REWIND: The Chronomamcher can reverse “back in time,” moving back to where they were 3 seconds ago. During this reverse, players can still attack, allowing them to either escape enemy attack or move back towards where an enemy currently may be.
- JOUST: The Herald can perform a more deadly charge up with its lance to strike foes in a swift strike.
- TRICK: The Fool is able to toss out a grenade, which explodes after a delay in a radius, devastating nearby enemies.
- GRAB: The Liars can grab and throw their foes into walls or even other enemies to chain more damage and set up for further combos.
Winning: Players accumulate points when they deal damage to other players. The amount of points is scaled with the amount of damage one does to other players. This encourages players to be involved and active in going after players while others may run away to avoid other players from obtaining points.
Modes
Freedom to play online vs. other players or offline vs. bots. Bot difficultly can be set to easy, medium, hard, or dummy (if you want to just practice your combos).
